Words From Janice A. Cunningham,
Massachusetts D.A.R.E. Officers' Association former president and
current co-president
Mary Kate Duffy
A Tribute to Mary Kate Duffy--Youth Advisory Board
Representative:
My name is Janice A. Cunningham and I have just completed
my term as president of the Massachusetts D.A.R.E.
Officers' Association and I am now co-presiding with Paul
Anderson. We just held our annual M.D.O.A. training
conference and it proved to be a success for the officers
and for their families as well.
The children’s activities were spearheaded and
supervised by Mary Kate Duffy our Y.A.B. (Youth Advisory
Board) representative. She did a phenomenal job! Every
parent stated how impressed he or she was with those
activities. One only needed to walk near any of the rooms
where Mary Kate was running activities and one could hear
the giggles and feel the love. There were several
different activities going on at once. Each was organized
and running smoothly, all with Mary Kate’s direction.
She was even able to recruit two older boys to help and
entertain the children.
The expressions on the children’s faces were nothing
short of sheer delight. If you looked beyond the
children’s faces you would see Mary Kate’s face and
realize every minute she was there, was just another
minute of sheer delight that came directly from her heart.
She had actually bonded with each and every child there.
She did not have to be asked to do anything--she had
already done it. She grasped the situation and molded it
to whatever was best for the children.
Mary Kate Duffy is an absolute joy to be with, to be
involved with, and to watch. Her vitality for life surges
into every thing she does.
Mary Kate is the epitome of every D.A.R.E Officers’
dream!
